Tuned Mass Damper (TMD)
The Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is a substructure attached to the main structure. It consists of a mass block, spring, and damper. The mass block is connected to the main structure via the spring and damper. The mass unit generates control forces (inertial forces) on the structure, while the spring unit tunes the natural frequency of the TMD to achieve optimal control performance. Additionally, the spring unit helps restore the mass unit of the TMD to its initial position. The damping unit absorbs energy transmitted from the structure to the TMD and limits the displacement of the TMD.
